Herrljunga – Borås track replacement and Centralized traffic control (CTC)
The railway between Herrljunga and Borås, “Älvsborgsbanan”, is in great need of maintenance since it has a low technical standard, which implies a risk of problems for train services. This stretch of railway was built in the late 1800s and is 43 kilometres long.
The objective of the project is to remotely control Herrljunga - Borås as well as to revive the standard of the railway track. By increasing the track standard we make it possible for traffic rerouting from ”Västra stambanan” and enable future capacity increases on Älvsborgsbanan.
The project will involve the replacement of tracks and switches on the “Älvsborgsbanan” that runs between Herrljunga and Borås. This is to increase safety and efficiency for passengers. The Älvsborgsbanan is an important line for rerouting traffic from “Västra stambanan” line. The total length of track to be replaced is about 39 kilometres, and three kilometres located to the three stations. It is also included to do ballast- and banquet cleaning, 11 new track switches, maintenance on nine bridges and more than 20 level crossing measures. Existing ballast contains high percentage of fine grained material, especially in the south part.
The signal system is today a manual system with three manned train stations (Fristad, Ljung, Borås). The project will install CTC (Centralized traffic control) and install totally new signal system on the three stations mentioned above. The three stations will be implemented in one signalling interlocking system, one technical building per station. This lead to three new block posts and seven blocking stretches.
Signalling interlocking systems are provided by another supplier.
Building starts in late 2020 with a contract value of approximately 20-25 million euro.
-
The project will have a construction contract where all key figures and construction documents are prepared before the procurement. Because of this building can start directly after signed contract.
-
The line is closed for production on night shifts during Autumn 2020 och Spring 2021. From week 29-49 year 2021 the line is totally closed down for production.
-
The construction will take place without blocking level crossings. The building contractor is responsible for rerouting the traffic, safety and working environment.
-
Swedish Transport Administration will supply material such as rail, sleepers and switches.
-
The building contractor will share the site office to be able to work together closely with the Swedish Transport Administration.
-
The tender period will be March to May 2020.
-
The procedure is according to the Swedish Public Procurement Act.
-
The tender will be published in TransQ, a pre-qualifying procurement system.
-
For example the project includes:
-
Track replacement on 39 km
-
Banquet and ballast cleaning on 43 km
-
Maintenance on nine bridges
-
Deconstruction and Construction of a new platform for passengers in Ljung
-
More than 20 level crossing measures
-
Security fences
We would like for you to be a part of the procurement process later on during the Spring of 2020. |
