In order to create greater opportunities for innovative and sustainable solutions, the Swedish Transport Administration is offering a new segment: high-volume business. This encompasses all deals worth in excess of SEK 10 billion with an implementation period of 8–10 years.
This business segment is aimed at suppliers working in international markets and is intended to complement the business forms currently used within new main line projects and the Swedish Transport Administration in general. One important element of high-volume business is to involve consultants and contractors early in the process, so that production solutions can meet future challenges such as the climate transition, cost control and skills and resource provision.
During 2022, the East Link project will be working to finalise strategies so that together with the supplier market we can implement future high-volume contracts in the optimal manner. As part of this strategy work, in November we are inviting suppliers to a dialogue so that we can take full advantage of all the knowledge and experience the market has to offer. The plan is to implement future high-volume contracts with pronounced supplier participation.
We are planning to publish the first two high-volume contracts, Vagnhärad and Skavsta, during the spring of 2023. In the meantime, in November a construction contract for the new travel centre in Nyköping will be published. This is a project that demands particularly good production planning as it will be performed in an operational railway facility. Another future construction contract is for the Kolmården project, with procurement planned for August 2026. This will include the Kolmården Tunnel.
