Trafikverket is planning for a new approximately 60 km double-track railway between the two largest cities in Western Sweden. Nationally pointed out station locations for Gothenburg-Borås are Mölndal, Landvetter Airport and Borås.
The railway contributes to faster travel in the West of Sweden and between the city regions, smoother work commuting, more train departures, sustainable travel and increased access to Landvetter Airport. The new railway is a part of a new main line between Gothenburg and Stockholm. Read more about about the double-track railway here.
What: Procurement of several railway plans, environmental impact assessments, preliminary designs, tender documents for several construction works and construction works for the new railway stretch Gothenburg-Borås.
Why: The railway contributes to faster travel in the West of Sweden and between the city regions, smoother work commuting, more train departures, sustainable travel and increased access to Landvetter Airport. The new railway is a part of a new main line between Gothenburg and Stockholm.
Present situation: Localization study is ongoing with final delivery in the end of 2021. Work in progress concerning the planning for the upcoming procurements of several railway plans that will occur during the second half of 2021. Planned start of construction 2025-2027.
Early dialogues: The project plans to have early dialogues during October and November 2020 with suppliers. More information about these early dialogues, their content and how to apply to participate in the dialogues will be published on the project's website during the month of August 2020.
